CaddyBytes 🏆 2026 LIV Golf Mexico City Final Round Recap: Sunday at Club de Golf Chapultepec began with the look of a real chase, but Jon Rahm quickly turned Championship Sunday into a show of complete control. He started the day with a two-shot lead, then wasted almost no time stretching the margin with an early burst that included birdies and a momentum-swinging eagle. In the altitude of Mexico City, where aggressive golf always feels possible, Rahm still managed to make the tournament look steady and orderly. By the end, a bogey-free 64 gave him a dominant six-shot victory and closed out one of the strongest weeks of the LIV Golf season.

There was good golf all around him early. David Puig came into the final round off a superb 62 on Saturday and stayed in the hunt long enough to secure second place. Josele Ballester continued his outstanding week and kept himself firmly on the leaderboard, while Tom McKibbin, Scott Vincent, Harold Varner III, and Matthew Wolff all produced highlights that gave the round energy. There were long-range birdies, near-eagles, and quality approach shots throughout the day, but the story never really flipped because nobody could string together enough pressure to make Rahm uncomfortable for long.

Rahm’s round was built exactly the way elite front-running golf so often is: big driving, clean iron play, and an ability to answer every small opening before it became real danger. His eagle at the drivable third was the kind of shot sequence that changed the feel of the tournament, and from there he kept applying pressure instead of protecting the lead. Even when he faced awkward lies or putts that could have given the field hope, he refused to blink. The front nine surge gave him separation, and his rhythm never really broke after that.

The back nine had strong moments from the field, but most of them felt like isolated flashes rather than a true charge. Puig kept battling and posted the best finish of his LIV Golf career, while Ballester’s week continued to underline how impressive the young Spaniards were in Mexico City. Rahm, though, controlled the larger picture. He kept giving himself looks, avoided mistakes, and made the lead feel even bigger than it was. At Chapultepec, where the altitude can invite chaos, the final round instead became a procession because the leader simply kept hitting one authoritative shot after another.

The team race added another layer to the day. Legion XIII began Sunday in command, and while the Fireballs made a real push and cut into the margin for a stretch, they never fully turned the pressure into a team reversal. Rahm’s pace out front kept Legion XIII stable, and the group had enough support around him to close the door. By the end of the afternoon, Legion XIII had secured its first team victory of the season, while the final leaderboard also delivered a notable Spanish sweep at the top with Rahm first, Puig second, and Ballester third.

So the final image from Mexico City was a fitting one: Jon Rahm walking off with another LIV Golf title after taking a two-shot overnight advantage and turning it into a runaway win. It was not a nervy finish built on survival. It was a champion taking control early, staying aggressive, and finishing the job with a superb closing 64. Add in Legion XIII’s team triumph, and LIV Golf Mexico City ended as a full Sunday sweep for Rahm and his side at one of the circuit’s most entertaining venues.
